The direction provided by Rotorua's Elected Members played a major role in shaping the draft district plan's response to the issues raised by the community.
Since 2008, over 40 workshops have been held with Elected Members on the district plan review. Many of the workshops conducted in 2009 and 2010 were focussed on providing policy guidance on major district-wide issues (eg lake water quality, urban design) and zones.
The policy direction papers from these workshops presented to the Members are provided below and give an insight into the matters that were considered in adopting a particular approach. The policy direction papers will also serve as a basis for the section 32 report that will be completed before the proposed district plan is notified later in the year.
