The draft district plan is made up of three major components:
Draft chapters
Draft appendices
Draft maps
You can view the planning maps for the draft Rotorua district plan here. These maps are to be viewed in conjunction with the draft parts and appendices.
There are four main components to the map book:
Cover page, street index, map directory and introduction
The special interest maps, also known as the 100 series
The urban area maps, also known as the 300 series
The rural area maps, also known as the 500 series
When searching for the map covering your property or area of interest you can do one of two things - you can find it on the map grid or you can look it up in the street index. These quick reference tools are provided below.
Please note: The large maps files may take a minute or two to download.

To help your use of the maps we have included a "how to use the maps" diagram. A quick reference guide to all the zone colour codes and other map symbols is also here

The maps contain a lot of information. The maps in each series are arranged in pairs of left and right hand pages. When printing the maps make sure you print off both the left hand right hand map, as they both show the same area but different types of information.
The maps are designed to be printed at A3 size, but can also be printed at A4. Note that when the maps are printed at A4 size the quality of the maps is slightly reduced.
Cover page and introduction page.
The other pages that make up the front end of the map book can be found here.

The special interest maps also known as the 100 series
The Special Interest maps (100 numbers) present consolidated information at a district-wide and urban area level. The left-hand map usually shows the information at a district scale, with the right hand map showing the information at a higher resolution within the Rotorua urban area.
Since the 100 series maps were put on the website on 16 April 2011, it has come to our attention that an outdated version of map 104 was uploaded. The correct version is now part of the 100 series below and can also be accessed as a single map here. We apologise for any inconvenience this omission may have caused.

The urban area maps, also known as the 300 series
The urban series (300 numbered pages) are also arranged in pairs of facing pages. Each pair covers the same geographical area and has the same sheet number in the bottom left and right corner. The right facing page shows the zones. The left hand maps show specific features with possible planning implications.

The rural area maps, also known as the 500 series
The rural maps are at a higher scale than the urban 300 sheets and generally cover the less populated areas of the district. You will notice that one of the main differences is the use of hill shade on the maps. Hill shade is used to help provide context.
