Council is currently in the process of reviewing its district plan.
Fresh Ideas is the name of the Rotorua district plan review project. Every council has a district plan, which must be reviewed every ten years. The existing district plan was one of the first to be prepared under the Resource Management Act. It is now time to replace it with a new one.
What is the process and timeframe for the review?
There are a number of stages to the process that are required under the Resource Management Act 1991.
In April 2011 council released a draft of the plan and sought informal feedback up until July 31, 2011.
This feedback has been collated and summarised, and is available to view by clicking here.
The summaries will be presented to elected members, who will consider any changes to the next version of the document. The community will have another opportunity to input before the draft enters a formal phase. It is anticipated that a proposed plan will be notified around August 2012 where council will be seeking formal submissions. We will keep you posted with further updates.
If you did take the opportunity to provide your feedback, we thank you.
The draft district plan document, maps and supporting research will remain available to view on this website until revised versions are released.
